Senior Citizens Activities, Inc. (SCAI) – Enriching Lives, Building Community

One of  two long-standing non-profit agencies in Washington County

Since 1967, Senior Citizens Activities, Inc. (SCAI)—also known as the Senior Center of West Bend—has been a vibrant and welcoming hub for older adults in the West Bend community. Dedicated to fostering connection, wellness, and lifelong learning, SCAI provides individuals aged 50 and older with a dynamic space to engage in social, physical, and educational activities that enhance their quality of life.

Under the visionary leadership of Executive Director Paula Hader, the Center has been reimagined over the past eight years into a thriving Activity Center for 50+ers, where participants can explore new interests, stay active, and build meaningful connections.

With a strong commitment to health and well-being, SCAI offers a diverse array of fitness and wellness programs tailored to seniors’ needs, including Pickleball, Ping Pong, Line Dancing & YMCA-led fitness classes. Those looking for mindful movement can participate in Floor & Chair Yoga, balance-focused classes, and arthritis-friendly exercises, ensuring accessibility for all ability levels.

Beyond physical activity, the Senior Center is a thriving social and creative hub, welcoming more than 21,000 visits in 2024. Participants gather to enjoy card games such as Sheepshead, Euchre & Pinochle; crafts like jewelry making, quilting, and knitting; and stimulating games including Scrabble, Mah Jong & Dominoes. Art enthusiasts can explore their creativity through woodcarving, paint pouring, and fused glass workshops, among other enriching classes.

At its core, SCAI is more than just a center - it is a community where friendships flourish, knowledge is shared, and active lifestyles are embraced. Through health and wellness programs, lifelong learning opportunities, and engaging social events, SCAI is committed to empowering older adults to lead fulfilling and connected lives.

Located at 2378 W. Washington Street in West Bend, the Senior Center welcomes new participants to explore its offerings.
